I hope everyone’s Christmas season is blessed thus far. I saw this video on YouTube about what Christmas is like in Japan, it doesn’t show any shots of how things look and the really nice Christmas lights that are put up… but his commentary is accurate compared to my own experience while living in Tokyo. The following are just a few points of interests that are talked about.
- There are hardly any Christians in Japan
- Christmas in Japan is more of a novelty and it doesn’t really have any meaning
- Christmas eve is more a time for romantic dinners (its treated like Valentine’s Day)
- Christmas day is just another workday
On an unrelated subject that still correlates to the first bullet point above, I just saw John Piper’s Facebook status where he gives a link to a site that list the 100 largest unreached peoples with the gospel. Japan is still on the list in 2nd place population wise.
