Michael Oh (pictured above), is a missionary from Japan who spoke at the 2009 Desiring God conference (click here to watch his message) on the needs for missionaries to support the effort to reach the 10/40 Window with the gospel. I have a page dedicated to the 10/40 Window here, much of my information can from this message. Michael’s main theme is that missions is a form of fasting, but also he shares a lot specifically about the spiritual condition of Japan. He also provided provocative facts, I found it very interesting that there is a mega churches in South Korea that has more members in it than the total combined number of Japanese Christians in the whole world.
I am very thankful to DesiringGod.org for making this video available free of charge for download.
Apart from all of the great information in Michael’s message and a humorous insert or two about his family, he shares about the strong racial tension between Japanese and Koreans created by Japan’s atrocities during WWII (my previous post, a WWII veteran tells his story, shares a bit more about that) and what it means for him to minister the love of Christ to those who did terrible things to his ancestors. I have watched this video several times and encourage all who have an interest in missions to Japan and 10/40 Window to watch it too.
